Poring is named after a species of giant bamboo that grows abundantly in the area. It lies in the eastern boundaries and situated some 40km (25miles) from the Kinabalu Park Headquarters. Poring is about 400m above sea level and is dominated by the lowland forest with huge dipterocarp trees easily seen on the trails.

MARI-MARI CULTURAL VILLAGE
In Mari Mari Cultural Village, there are various traditional homes of five ethnic tribes, Bajau, Lundayeh, Murut, Rungus and Dusun. Each home was built by descendants of the tribes they represent. The LokKawi Wildlife Park is 280 acres in size and trail length of 1.4 km. Meet exotic animals without venturing deep into virgin forest of Sabah. Borneo Pygmy elephants, Sumatran rhinoceros, Orang Utans, Proboscis monkeys, Malayan Tigers and other animals are among the 88 local species found at the park.

Manukan Island with total land area of 51 acres is the second largest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahamn National Park. MANTANANI ISLAND
Mermaid Island (or Mantanani Islands) situates just apposite of Kota Belud town, which is 80 km from Kota Kinabalu. Her name was originated from dugong, inspiration for mermaids. It comprises of three isolated islands, namely MantananiBesar (the largest island), followed by Mantanani Kecil and Lungisan.
