Semporna was founded soon after the British North Borneo Chartered Company established Sandakan, and initially settled by Chinese traders, most fleeing from Spanish attacks on the Sulu Sultanate. Before being named "Semporna", this area was known as "Tong Talun" in Bajau language which means "Hujung Hutan" in Malay or "at the end of the forest" in English. Panglima Uddang, Panglima Sallehangni and Panglima Sakti of Bajaus Kubangancestry were responsible for this name. The name gradually evolved to "Semporna" (known as "Peaceful Place") over time. Semporna is also known for the Regatta Lepa traditional boat races which occur annually in April. Semporna was also the location of the finish line of Eco-Challenge: Borneo, held in 2000.
Off the coast is a marine park called Tun Sakaran Marine Park, also known as Semporna Islands Park. It was gazetted by Sabah Parks in 2004. Semporna is the gateway to diving in world-renowned island paradises like Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Sibuan, Mantabuan, Siamil and Pom Pom among others. Visitors to Semporna are mainly sunseekers looking for relaxation or water sports activities such as scuba diving or snorkeling.
TOUR PROGRAM
Upon arrival Tawau Airport, meet and greet by our friendly representative and transfer to Semporna Town. Check in Hotel to choose & free at own leisure. Afternoon 1500 hrs – meet at hotel lobby then proceed for Fireflies+ Mangroves Cruise. Arrive at the Mangroves river base camp. Enjoy a brief Hi-Tea. After enjoy your Hi-Tea, Proceed for river cruise to look out for mangrove wildlife. you may also see a few families of Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques, birds and other wildlife. Dinner will be serve at Mangroves river base camp. After dinner, Continue another river cruise and this time for fireflies sightings which is the highlight of the tour. Fireflies are very interesting bugs. They produce chemicals reaction inside their body that allows them to light up – this light up method is called bioluminescence. 2000 hrs - Return to mainland then transfer back to hotel to choose. ( D )
Simple breakfast, meet and transfer to Semporna Jetty.
Depart to Bohey Dulang.You may opt for a hiking guide. Fees/Tips(RM10/pax) for the service is bound by the guest. Please tip the guide well. The hike will take about 1hour.
Embrace yourself with a breath taking scenery of the surroundings of the island. After the hiking, packed lunch will be served at Bohey Dulang jetty.
Depart to Mantabuan to do the 1st Snorkeling session. Rest and enjoy the sun bath before proceeding to the 1st Snorkeling session.
Depart to Sibuan and register at Sabah Park. Walk around the island and take pictures of the Sea Gypsies living on the island. Proceed for 2nd snorkeling session. Arrive back to Semporna.
Breakfast at hotel and free leisure time for you until transfer Tawau airport for departure flight. ( B )

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY',
- Over 14 days (From date of departure) charge 30% of Tour fare.
- 7 days (From date of departure) charge 50% of tour fare.
- Less than 7 days (From date of departure) charge full tour fare.
- No refund for those tours which involve accommodation.

- After your tour booking is confirmed and successful, an email or messages notification will send to you together with the tour confirmation, payment in full settlement shall be make within the payment time limit specified in the itinerary confirmation letter. Failure to pay the full amount beyond the payment time limit, your tour booking will be deemed invalid and automatically cancelled.
